BRASS CAPTION HEAD / CO-SHOW DESIGNER / BRASS ARRANGER
Randy Dulaney received his bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Southern Utah University, where he also focused on Composition, Piano Performance, and Trumpet Performance. He is currently the Director of Bands at Murrieta Valley High School in Murrieta, California, where he heads the Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Band. He has been involved with music education for over a decade now, where he has taught at both the middle school and high school levels.
Randy has been composing and arranging for marching band and wind ensembles throughout the United States for nearly ten years, and the groups he writes for have enjoyed a tremendous amount of success. He has written for schools such as Vista Murrieta High School, Great Oak High School, El Camino High School, Kaiser High School, Temescal Canyon High School, and his own Murrieta Valley High School. His compositions and commissions for concert band have been played and enjoyed by groups of all ages throughout the country. He continues to be an active composer and arranger, writing for several groups every year.
Randy marched with the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps in the mid-‘90s, where he played trumpet. Randy has enjoyed watching his oldest daughter Madison march with the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps during their 2018 season.
Randy’s philosophy of music is that just about everyone in the world is touched or inspired by one or more genres of music. For students of music, and those who actively and continuously participate in its performance and development, it has an even deeper impact. This impact can be so profound that they will always remember the effect that music has had on them for the remainder of their lives. Music should teach students to develop a basic, emotional, and creative understanding of music and art, teach them how to act and perform as professionals in the working world, allow them to feel proud of what they have accomplished and to challenge them on a daily basis to help them understand who they are and what truly inspires them.
Randy currently lives in Murrieta, California with his wife Erin and their three kids Madison, Danzie, and Carson.
